Harriet Shugarman, a Canadian/American economist, policy analyst, and educator in New York City, is an expert on movement building in the climate space, with a focus on intergenerational equity. Harriet founded ClimateMama in 2009, the first climate parent organization and web-based parent climate community in the USA. Harriet serves on numerous national and international boards that address climate, public policy, youth, gender health, and justice, including as co-chair of the inaugural Advisory Council for Our Kids Climate, a global parent climate network. Harriet’s 2020 book: “Talking to Your Kids About Climate Change, Turning Angst to Action” has garnered 3 national book awards and is recognized as a critical source in the toolkit around creating space and place for intergenerational climate conversations. Harriet loves hiking and long walks in Central Park with her dog Moose.
